The people who make our pieces are also exceptional. We have a long, shared history with the workshop in Dorset. We share a mutual respect and trust. These makers take a huge pride in what they make for us. In our work the human hand is present from the crafting of the original model,
through to the final sand and carefully applied oil.

Dining tables have to work – hard. Our tables are made from solid timber which means they stand up to the daily grind and last a lifetime. We prefer a protective oil finish that will age gracefully without heavy discolouration, withstand daily spillage, and can also be sanded down and rescued when
the worst happens and ‘someone’ leaves a hot pan on top. We source FSC and PEFC timber, and each table’s top planks are carefully selected and laid up to create not just a working surface, but also a tableau of the tree’s beauty and a testament to its long years of growth.

Our designs also need to work hard, and how our tables feel and work, as well as look, is thoroughly considered. The table should feel generous to its guests, and also inviting. The hand should wander to the table’s underside, the edge of the leg should not catch or bruise, and an extending table
should store its leaves within, and be easy to reconfigure.
