Why does my fabric require knit-backing – what is it?
The purpose of knit-backing upholstery fabric is to add body, resiliency, and durability whilst also eliminating seam slippage. We would encourage doing this if the fabric you have selected is relatively lightweight, to reinforce it for upholstery use and maintain the durability over the fabric’s lifespan.
If you are providing the fabric to us you will need to ask the fabric supplier to do this for you before sending it to us.
Why does my fabric require fire retardancy treatment – what is it?
All the upholstery we make has to meet the relevant level of fire retardancy according to where it is going.
If the fabric you have selected does not meet the relevant Match and Cigarette test, we would need the fabric to be FR treated, this can usually be done by the fabric house you are buying from.
We will advise if this is necessary when we do a stitch test.
If you are providing the fabric to us you will need to arrange for this to be done before supplying to us.
What is the difference between aniline and treated leather?
Aniline is the most natural-looking leather, with little or no protection so the full beauty of the hide shines through. However, unprotected leathers like this can be marked with oils and also fade in the sun. We like this patina on pieces as they grow more interesting with use, but if this is not acceptable please look at semi-aniline or protected leathers.
Semi-aniline is a treated leather that has a light coating, making it more protected than pure aniline. We would therefore suggest this is used on more high-wear products such as dining chairs.
Fully protected leather has a durable coating applied so it is protected.
What is a pattern repeat?
This is simply the length of the repeat on a fabric. We will need to know this to make sure we can align patterns as much as possible. Larger patterns mean we usually need more than the standard amount of fabric. We will calculate this for you and let you know the required meterage.
Why is there a pattern surcharge?
It takes more time to cut patterned fabrics, as we need to make sure we align the pattern correctly across the piece.
COM handling fee
We charge a small handling fee on all COM orders to cover administration and transportation costs.
What is the warranty on this piece?
The frame has a lifetime warranty while the cushions and seats have a 2 year warranty. Fabric warranties vary depending on the manufacturer and are not covered by PINCH.
What is the frame made from?
The frame is made from solid beech.
Can I remove the legs?
The legs cannot be removed.
Do you supply an inter-liner?
We supply an inter liner as standard on all upholstery pieces.
