About the making
Comfort first, always
Since the launch of our first sofa design almost 20 years ago, we’ve sought to create beautiful upholstered seating that highlights the skill and capability of our workshops, whilst ensuring the most comfortable sit. This was an ambition realised with the Garagh series, designed to be supremely comfortable and cloud-like, whilst retaining the elegance and poise of a strong silhouette. Sketched and then hand-sculpted with clay instead of our usual balsa wood, the Garagh was modelled with this material to embody its organic qualities and fluid curves.
Made in Norfolk
The frames of our Garagh series are made from FSC certified beech, an extremely durable timber guaranteed to stand the test of time, sitting atop solid timber hand-turned legs. The Garagh is crafted at a specialist workshop in Norfolk that combines traditional making methods with modern materials and time-honoured making.
Tailored tactility
The cushioned seat, back and arms are the result of refining layers and combinations of springs, foam, and wool, until we arrived at the perfect balance of softness that holds its shape. Pleated detailing and exposed seams are expertly stitched into place by skilled makers, giving a tailored finish to its curved form.
